The Cooler Schoolers - Elementary School through 6th grade Have you ever wondered what biblical stories happened during the time of King Tut, the Sphinx or the creation of the Egyptian Shadow Clock? These are a few of the secular events that we studied alongside the Bible stories of the times in last year’s class. This year's curriculum begins with the teachings of Jesus and his disciples. We will learn his stories and historical events that were happening at the same time. Come join the fun and games! - Lori Walter |

Youth Sunday School - Grades 7-12 Hello to my new Senior High Sunday School class. Presently we have Madison, Megan, Stephen, Matthew, Flynn and Madison forming the Senior High Sunday School class. We will have a lot of discussions of how God and his will fits into the lives of teenagers today. We will also have Food and Good Times. So if you or any one you know would like to be a part of this awesome group, just let Mark or me know. September 16 is our start date so see you then! - Marilyn Walters |

Adult Lectionary Study Please join us on Sundays starting September 16 - from 9:30am to 10:15am - for the adult Sunday School class. Participants in the class take turns leading the class discussions. Each week's leader receives in advance a packet of discussion questions on that Sunday's lectionary readings. These questions provide the stepping off point for a lively - and often freewheeling - exploration of that Sunday's readings. You don't need to come every week, and we won't make you sign up to lead a session (well, not right away anyhow!). Join us! - Karen North Rossen |

Parish Dinner |

Wednesday night suppers will be special this year. We are looking forward to serving a good crowd each week. We will use attractive round tables set with table clothes, silver and nice china……..the food will be upscale and the programs interesting. Starting September 19th, a delicious homemade meal will be prepared each week by Holy Cross Volunteers under the direction of Glenn Franklin and Ellen Carey. Menus have been prepared for each week, with the Fall menus posted on the bulletin board between the Sanctuary and Common Room. Just as when you have a dinner party at home, it is very difficult to prepare a nice meal when you don’t know how many people are coming to dinner. Therefore we are asking people to sign up for meals.. You may sign up in advance for as many as four Wednesdays. The sign up sheet for the first 4 Wednesdays is located on the bulletin board beside the list of fall menus. Only for the times you forget to sign up, you may call Ann Curtis ( 828-859-9712) until 5 p.m. on the Monday before If you come without signing up, you will be asked to go to the end of the buffet line…! Each week a vegetarian entrée will be prepared. If you desire this special entrée, you are asked to write “vegetarian” beside your name on the sign up sheets. To cover cost of the food, volunteer cooks are asking you to donate a minimum of $5 per adult and $3 per child under 12. |

Adult Choir |
|||
|
The Parish Choir will resume rehearsals on Wednesday evenings at 7:00pm. All are invited to come join us in “singing and making melody” (Eph.5:19) as we prepare music for the 10:30 Sunday service. Auditions for new members will be scheduled individually for the purpose of part placement only, not for admission to the choir itself. Basic musicality is recommended; music-reading ability is a plus but is certainly not required. Our first rehearsal will be on Wednesday, September 5, and we will have a half-day retreat on Saturday, September 8. See the Music page for other musical offerings this year. |
