About Our Handbell Choir

Brennan Szafron is the director of the Holy Cross Handbell Choir. Rehearsals are Tuesdays at 1:15 to 2:15 pm in the sanctuary. We ring during Sunday morning worship about once a month, and we ring at the Christmas Eve services.

A handbell choir is a wonderful opportunity to enjoy the camaraderie of a church music ensemble. A beginner, with good instruction, can learn to play bells and have a gratifying musical experience in a relatively short period of time. At the same time, bells can offer the challenge of learning a new instrument to the experienced musician.

What We Offer

The handbell choir provides the opportunity to work together to achieve a common goal of excellence in the performance of church music. And, we have fun. Just ask any of our ringers!

The only requirements are:

  • Commitment to the rehearsal schedule
  • Basic music reading abilities

Everything else can be learned along the way. Whether you're a beginner looking for a gratifying musical experience or an experienced musician seeking the challenge of learning a new instrument, our handbell choir welcomes you.
